CAB 5 will feature major exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center, the James R. Thompson Center, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and the Chicago Architecture Center, as well as installations and programs at sites across the city, including House of Kapwa, 4501 S Prairie, the Neubauer Collegium, Chicago Tool Library, DuSable Park, Joffrey Ballet, and South Side Community Art Center.
From its booming downtown filled with innovative skyscrapers and landmark buildings to its culturally rich neighborhoods marked by various local styles, Chicago has long been lauded as an architectural destination. At the same time, Chicago shares many complex issues that challenge architecture and the built environment in cities worldwide. As attested to by the critical acclaim accorded to CAB’s four prior exhibitions, Chicago is an ideal venue to host a dialogue about the future of the profession and of urban areas everywhere through year-round programs and a biennial exposition of city-wide activations for a diverse audience of architects, designers, educators, advocates, and students.
