Virginia de Medeiros is a visual artist and educator whose audiovisual installations adapt documentary images to explore reality, subjectivity, and alterity. She participated in the 2006 and 2014 editions of the Bienal de São Paulo and was awarded the PIPA Prize (including the Popular Vote Exhibition) in 2015; the 5th Marcantonio Vilaça Award for Fine Arts; and the Rede Nacional Funarte Artes Visuais in 2009. Her work is part of a number of collections, including Associação Cultural Videobrasil, São Paulo; Centro Cultural São Paulo; Instituto Inhotim, Brumadinho, Brazil; and Museu de Arte do Rio, Rio de Janeiro.
