About the program

STUDIO VISIT: Aggregate Studio and -lieu

at Monadnock Building

53 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60604

Located in the historic Monadnock Building, Aggregate Studio and – lieu are distinct practices united by a commitment to design that meaningfully engages with people, place, and community. The evening will begin with a visit to – lieu at 5:30 PM, followed by a visit to Aggregate Studio at 6:15 PM.

Founded in 2023, Aggregate Studio centers its work on dignified, affordable housing and community-focused civic design. Prioritizing process over stylistic outcomes, the studio embraces collaboration and critical engagement to deliver architecture that uplifts its users and strengthens communities. With expertise in multi-stakeholder and government-funded projects, Aggregate integrates technical rigor with empathetic listening to create designs that are greater than the sum of their parts.

– lieu, founded by Danielle Beaulieu AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is a design practice rooted in empathy, curiosity, and thoughtfulness. The studio’s work responds to the specific contexts of people, culture, and environment, emphasizing the emotional and experiential dimensions of architecture. Through an iterative design process, – lieu explores contrasts—old and new, light and dark, textured and smooth—to discover clarity and resonance in each project.

Together, these two studios offer perspectives on architecture as both a civic responsibility and a human experience.
