Dr. Yiyun Kang, a veteran in the field of projection mapping and immersive art, will headline the Fall 2023 ART on THE MART season (September 14–November 15, 2023). Working at the intersection of art, sound, and technology, Dr. Kang’s projection mapping installations create kinetic environments for audiences to explore. She is best known for her 2021 solo exhibition at PKM Gallery in South Korea titled Anthropause, which explored the finite nature of humanity and the rapid depletion of Earth’s. Partnering with Superblue, Dr. Kang’s commission for ART on THE MART will unfold over three immersive scenes which combine digital animation and real footage, mixing the human figure with AI generated imageries. Dr Kang was inspired by THE MART’s position as a leader in sustainable practices while creating ‘Only in the Dark,’ and aims to encourage audiences to think collectively about a more inclusive future.
