About the program

Elmhurst Art Museum

150 S Cottage Hill Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126

Wednesday-Thursday: 12:00 PM-5:00 PM
Friday-Sunday: 11:00 AM-5:00 PM

Create with artist Mayumi Lake, whose work is featured in the Elmhurst Art Museum’s exhibition Shakkei: Work by Mayumi Lake and Bob Faust. Lake’s images reflect a deep engagement with the ancient Japanese practice of Hōsōge—bright, bold flowers believed to bloom in the afterlife. Learn how Lake explores this idea, and create your own artwork inspired by her pieces.

This event also honors the historical lily pond that once graced Wilder Park, just outside the museum’s back door. Come make an origami or paper lily to float on a mythical re-creation of the pond.

This all-ages workshop is included with museum admission (free for Elmhurst Art Museum members).
