About the program
The Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago (MoCP) presents a curator-led exhibition tour of Channeling: body ←Image→ viewer with curator Joan Giroux, followed by a guided meditation and sound bath. Giroux will guide guests through works in the exhibition that situate the body politic in history and remind us that simple presence in space and time can be action. In works that explore how bodies confront societal malaise and oppression in the built environment, varied gestures—crawling, lying, climbing, pointing, running, walking backward—evoke memory, history, and rhetoric.
Following the tour, Aneela Dean-Saineghi will lead a guided meditation and sound bath, activating releases in the body for holistic healing and wellness. Tea will be served at the conclusion of the program.
