Project Overview

Toward Color-Aid

These images are made from standardized color swatches—mass-produced samples of color—that are digitized and re-rendered with expressive, brush-like strokes. Artists have long debated whether drawing (disegno) or color (colore) should come first; here, both are given equal weight. The works bring together outline and fill, construction and buildup, with the printer’s mechanics standing in for the hand. Instead of paint mixing on a brush, colors meet through the layering of paper-thin sheets, each printed in a pigment layer thinner than the swatch itself. Drawing from color field theory, the work merges form and color as inseparable forces, suggesting how visual expression can contribute to broader acts of world-making.
