Objects of Common Interest / LOT office for architecture

Athens, Greece and New York, United States

Objects of Common Interest/LOT office for architecture, founded by Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis, explores the boundary between art, architecture, and design through sculptural installations, public art, and spatial experiments. Their work emphasizes materiality and sensory experience, with exhibitions at the Noguchi Museum, Vitra Design Museum, and Design Museum Brussels. Collaborations span brands like CC-Tapis, Kvadrat, and Max Mara. In 2023, they created Lights On, the Italian Cultural Capital’s main public art piece. In 2024, they were named Designers of the Year by EDIDA. Both are adjunct professors at Columbia University, where they integrate conceptual rigor with a global, interdisciplinary design vision.

Project Overview

Surfaces in Flux

This installation rethinks how we gather by combining a floating inflatable dome with a modular, low-lying platform that responds to the presence of its users. In a time when cities and social spaces are constantly evolving, the piece offers a vision for shared environments that are soft, adaptable, and welcoming. The dome, gently suspended from above, creates a sense of shelter without enclosing walls, while the platform—made of individual inflatable sections—encourages people to sit, recline, and interact. Together, they invite visitors to imagine public spaces that embrace change, flexibility, and connection.
