Project Overview
100ft²
The stanchions are arranged in a 10×10 ft polygon, defining a 100 square foot zone in response to the abstract space suggested by the curatorial team in our initial exchanges.
In the months leading up to CAB 2025, this polygon is temporarily installed in various locations across Rio de Janeiro—where we live and work—delineating spaces of particular interest to our practice.
At the end of this process, the device is transported to Chicago (or reconstructed with identical locally sourced components) and installed in the CAB 2025 exhibition space, where it remains on display alongside images documenting its journey through Brazil.

Description
Completed in 1897 as Chicago’s first central library, the building was established as the Chicago Cultural Center, the nation’s first and most comprehensive free municipal cultural venue, in 1991. One of the most visited attractions in Chicago, the stunning landmark building is home to two magnificent stained-glass domes, as well as free art exhibitions, performances, tours, lectures, family activities, music, and more – presented by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and many others.
