Grandeza Studio

Sydney, Australia and Madrid, Spain

Grandeza Studio is a collective founded by Amaia Sánchez-Velasco, Jorge Valiente-Oriol, and Gonzalo Valiente-Oriol. Their work studies late-capitalist spaces and narratives to identify—through critical analysis—and challenge—through political imagination—the mechanisms that veil and normalize structural forms of violence against bodies and territories. Their work hybridizes research, critical spatial practice, writing, performance, design, filmmaking and pedagogy. In 2019, “Teatro Della Terra Alienata” won the Australian Pavilion at the XXII Triennale di Milano and received the Golden Bee Award. “Pilbara Interregnum: Seven Political Allegories” and “Strata Incognita” (co-directed with Locument), were showcased at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023. In 2024, they curated the exhibition “Espejito Espejito” at the Museum of America, as part of the Mayrit Biennial of Architecture and Design. Grandeza Studio’s work has also been exhibited and published at the Melbourne Design Week, the Architecture Triennale Lisbon, the Canadian Center for Architecture, amongst others.
