SHIFT enters its closing chapter with a series of public events across Chicago that celebrate the Biennial’s spirit and its contribution to the city’s cultural and architectural landscape. Centered on housing and urban ecologies, these gatherings bring together many of the ideas, voices, and debates that have shaped the Biennial since its opening in September 2025.
More than a conclusion, this moment offers an opportunity to reflect on what SHIFT has generated—across research, practice, and public engagement—and to consider how its questions and alliances can continue to inform what we build, collectively, beyond the Biennial itself.
