About the program

Devon Ave

Devon Ave and Artesian Ave

Munni Market is a night market pop-up in the Devon neighborhood that aims to illuminate and nurture a relationship to place. Presented by Spaceshift Collective, Munni Market brings the vibrant spirit of South Asian night markets to Chicago’s Devon Avenue. The corner of Devon and Artesian Avenues transforms into a dynamic space where art, culture, and community intersect with the lived experience of this diasporic neighborhood.

A curated selection of local artisans and vendors showcases handmade crafts, textiles, and ceramics—highlighting both South Asian heritage and its global influences. Performances feature local musicians and movement artists. Families are invited to participate in free-for-all art and craft activities, contributing to a shared space of creative exchange.

Munni Market celebrates the choreography and cartography of urban life, where music, dance, food, and art offer opportunities to reflect on the evolution of this rich Chicago landscape. In alignment with the 2025 Chicago Architecture Biennial, Munni Market explores how art and public space engage with the profound cultural, social, and environmental transformations shaping our cities—and how we live within them.
