Re-SPLAM (Reclaimed Spatial Laminated) Timber Pavilion
Re-SPLAM (Reclaimed Spatial Laminated) Timber Pavilion is a full-scale pavilion created for the 2025 Chicago Architecture Biennial. Built from one hundred percent reclaimed lumber, the structure demonstrates how material can be given a second life as spatial laminated timber. Offering a structural system that reduces the volume of cross-laminated timber slab by nearly half, Re-SPLAM uses a custom script to place every piece of reclaimed wood. Sited in the highly visible plaza at Millennium Park, the pavilion showcases how advanced fabrication and innovations in structural design can be vehicles for material re-use, offering a scalable, low-carbon model for future construction.
