East Side by Jovanni Chavez
The East Side of Chicago is a very unique place to visit. Our neighborhood is special because it is in between the calumet river and Lake Michigan. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by water. One of my favorite places to visit is Calumet Park. At there you can do gymnastics, play indoor/outdoor soccer, take dance lessons and see some model trains my favorite. Another place to visit is the Route 66 Pizza place. One of the reasons Chicago is famous is for the pizza we have so delicious. In my opinion it is one of the best pizza places. We also have bike trails that connect to Indiana, suburbs, and the lake front.
The East Side was also home to many Steel Mills a long time ago. Most of the Steel Mills closed and were torn down. We were home to many Steel Mills because we had access to water and railroad tracks for loading. Right now the home of the steel mill sits empty. There has been plans to build many things. I can’t wait to see the cool things they will build.
