SPLAM Timber Pavilion

SPLAM [SPatial LAMinated timber] is a full-scale prototype of an optimized timber structure that reimagines the way we design and build sustainably. The pavilion was built using advanced robotic technology to investigate a more efficient building slab for future construction. Designed by SOM and the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, led by professors Tsz Yan Ng and Wes McGee, SPLAM is a permanent addition to EPIC Academy’s South Shore campus. SPLAM will function as a learning lab and event space for the school and community.
