More Info
Denise Ferreira da Silva writes on philosophy, political theory, feminist theory, law, and human rights. Her work focuses on how social scientific constructions of racial and cultural difference expose the violent basis and effects of modern onto-epistemological accounts and the ways they have constituted globality as an ethical-political field. She is the author of Toward a Global Idea of Race (University of Minnesota Press, 2007) and the co-editor (with Paula Chakravartty) of Race, Empire, and the Crisis of the Subprime (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2013). Ferreira da Silva is currently professor and director of the Social Justice Institute-GRSJ at the University of British Columbia.
