DMAC Architecture defines the contemporary urban hub with its revamp of the iconic Chicago Midtown Athletic Club, connecting the Lincoln Park, Bucktown, and Logan Square neighborhoods. The DMAC team recognized the site at the intersection of Elston, Fullerton and North Avenues as an opportunity to advance conversations on urban planning and heritage.

How do you create a new urban building that encourages healthy lifestyles in a fragmented industrial quarter? How can you promote the use of the street by pedestrians and bikes through the design of just one building? DMAC’s new Midtown Athletic Club Chicago addresses these issues of urban site activation. CAB participants are invited to explore these questions and soluctions through an architect’s tour of the Club, hotel and retail complex guided by the DMAC’s Principal and Founder, Dwayne MacEwen, AIA.
